Logos

How do I publish a logo?

Once you've signed in, click the + button in the main menu to upload a new logo OR click the Enter Competition link from a competition page. Once you upload a logo for the first time your user status will be changed to Designer.

I'm a Client, why can't I upload a logo?

Once you start a design competition, your user status is permanently changed to Client. Once a Client you are not able to upload logos.

How can I search for a specific logo?

You can find logos in a number of ways. Search for a logo by using it's name, description or keyword in the search box, Selecting a drop down filter from the Logos pager clicking on a link in a comment, competition or users profile page.

Who can comment or rate a logo?

Any Signed-in user can comment or rate a logo. Just navigate to the logo you wish to comment on or rate, enter a comment and click the Add button to add. Your rating will be counted towards the logo's overall score and your comments will be shown on the logo page, home page and in RSS feeds. We'll also notify the designer that they have a new comment.

How does scoring work?

Scores are calculated based on the number of bottles a user rates a logo. Pro designers and competition owners have a modifier added to their rating giving their opinions more weight. Learn more on our Comments & Scoring page.

Who owns the intellectual property in logos?

The designer always owns the intellectual property or copyright in any uploaded logo unless either the logo has been purchased and paid for by a client or the logo was entered in a design competition AND has been selected as the winner - at which point all intellectual property rights in the design transfer to the client.

Can I purchase an existing logo design?

Yes - provided the designer has listed the logo For Sale. When you buy a For Sale logo, you will be asked for payment and upon payment will have instant access to artwork. Logosauce ensures that the logo artwork is uploaded and ready to download before the logo can be sold. We deduct a sales commission of 15% and pay the designer the balance.

What file format and size should be uploaded?

Please upload a JPG or PNG of your logo at 72dpi with dimensions of 600px X 600px. For best results we recommend you create an image with a square canvas and place your logo centered in the canvas.

How do I view logo detail and a larger image?

Search for the Logo you want - click on the thumbnail image to view the Gallery/Detail page. then click the logo again to view the Lightbox image which displays the logo with all the background detail blacked out.

Why can't I delete my logo

Logos that are an entry in a competition cannot be deleted. If the competition is still open you can withdraw your logo but it cannot be deleted.

Competitions

Who are competitions for?

Competitions are for Clients to run and Designers to enter. You can become a Client by starting a competition. You can become a Designer by uploading a logo. You may not become a Designer if already a Client nor become a Client if already a Designer.

How do I enter a competition?

To enter a competition navigate to the competition page and click the + Enter Competition link at the top right of the brief.

This link will not appear if you are NOT signed in or if the competition has closed.

Who selects Competition Winners?

Winners are selected by the Client at their absolute discretion. Comments and logo score may influence the Clients decision but not necessarily so. The clients decision is final and binding.

How do I select a winner of my competition?

Once the competition has ended (reached it's close date or minimum number of entries) you may pick a winner.

Note: A competition once started may not be ended early unless there are special circumstances and subject to the Logosauce Admin's discretion.

To select a logo as the winner of your competition:

  1. Navigate to the logo you would like to select as the winner.
  2. Click the Select as your Winner link under the logo.
  3. The Status of the Logo then changes to Winning Entry and the winning logo is also displayed on your competition page.
  4. The Designer will now be asked to upload the logo artwork. We'll email when it's ready for download.
  5. Once the artwork is uploaded and ready for download you'll have 7 days to raise any objections before we pay the designer.

Why isn't my competition closing?

Competitions now have a minimum number of entries based on the prize value.

  • Prize value $200 - $299 = 20 entries guaranteed.
  • Prize value $300 - $499 = 40 entries guaranteed.
  • Prize value $500 - $749 = 75 entries guaranteed.
  • Prize value $750 + = 100 entries guaranteed.

If this minimum number of entries is not met the competition will auto extend for one day and will continue to extend each day until the minimum entry requirement is met.

Can I cancel a competition and get a refund?

No - Sorry there are no refunds. Once a competition starts it must run until the close date.

If I enter a competition, is the prize-money guaranteed?

Yes - the client pays up front before the competition goes live and Logosauce pays the winning designer provided you have supplied suitable final artwork to the client.

Who owns the IP in an entered logo?

The copyright/IP in the designs uploaded and entered into design competitions remains the property of the designer (entrant) at all times unless that design is selected as the winner of the competition it was entered into. Upon selection as the Winner, Copyright and IP in the design automatically transfers to the Client (competition owner) as per the competition rules and Logosauce Terms of Use. All other entries remain the intellectual property of the respective designers (entrants) and may not be used by the client in any way.

What happens when a competition closes?

When a competition closes the client has 14 days to select a winner. The client is sent several reminder emails in this time to ensure they remember to choose a winner.

After a winner has been chosen the Designer is prompted to upload final artwork. Once the artwork has been uploaded there is a seven day stand down period in which the client can raise any issues with the artwork.

If a valid issue is raised with the artwork the seven day stand down period is restarted when new artwork is uploaded. After the stand down period is up the designer will be paid.

What happens when no winner is selected?

When a winner is not chosen within 14 days of a competition closing the competition will be forfeited.

What file formats should I supply final artwork in?

Please refer to our File Formats page.

Other FAQs

How does search work?

Search in Logosauce has kept as simple as possible.
Each Tab has it's own special search. Click on the Logos tab and then use the search box to search for logos. On the people tab use the search box to search for people. Search by default looks at Item name (e.g. logo, person, company etc), Notes and Tags and display these sorted by published date (most recent first).

How can I access original or source artwork?

Logosauce does not store source artwork. However designers may add information about where you can find the source artwork for the logo they have listed. If the information is provided - it can be found on the gallery/detail page of each logo. Failing that you can contact the user who published the logo by checking out the users profile.

The exception to this is for Design Competitions and For Sale logos.

For Design Competitions the winning design source artwork is uploaded (after the winner has been chosen) for the client to retrieve. This artwork is only available to the paying client and competition owner.

For Sale logos have their source artwork uploaded at the time they are put up for sale so it is immediately available to the purchaser.

What is Textile?

Logosauce uses Textile, a simple markup language, becoming popular on many websites, for many of it's user entered text areas. With Textile you can style your entries without having to use HTML.

For example to create a bulleted list, add an * in front of a line of text or a # for a number list.

How do I report an inappropriate listing or feedback ?

Please email Logosauce Help with your concern and where possible include links to the offending materials by navigating to the logo or profile you are referring to and then copy the URL in your browser's address bar and paste into your message. Upon receipt LogoSauce will inspect the logo and take action where necessary.
